There has been a great deal of speculation about your identity on the FDL.  Who are you?

I am Darth Maul.  Lord of the Sith, powerful in the use of the Dark Side of the Force and creator of the Star Wars mod released at http://www.descent-freespace.com.

How can I believe that you're actually Darth Maul?

So you do not recognize me?  Do you know anyone else with a face like mine?  I am Darth Maul, the one and only.  All others are impostors.

Are you a member of Volition?

No.  I am not affiliated with any software company.

Do you have any affiliations with anyone else in the FreeSpace community?

I am far too busy as a Lord of the Sith and planning the conquest of the Republic to belong to any of your petty groups.  I have far larger fish to fry.

I see. Then how were you able to create the Star Wars ship models without any in-house development tools?

With the full powers of the Dark Side of the Force, do you think anyone at Volition could refuse my powers?  Do you doubt my strength, little one?

No.  Not at all.  So you used your natural talents and abilities to convert the models?

It was a simple Jedi mind trick.  It was nothing but an insignificant use of my powers.  Adam Pletcher and Dave Baranac could not refuse the power of the Dark Side.  They were like playthings in my hands, to do with as I chose.  It was fortunate that I didn't have to apply any "persuasion," which would have cut short development of the game-formerly-known-as-FreeSpace 2.

Ah,  I thought so.  If you can read my mind, then what am I thinking of right now?

You should be ashamed of yourself.  These are not the Droids you are looking for.  Move along now...

All right, then.  Do you plan to share these secrets with the rest of the FreeSpace community?

My secrets are my own.  The Sith Lords aren't known for sharing with others.  I will not be sharing my secrets to anyone who does not have the power of the Dark Side flowing through them.

Do you have any future plans to create additional FreeSpace MODs?

I do not know.  I seem to be rather busy with "Real Life"™ and the conquest of the Republic at the moment.  Darth Sidious and I have plans, you see.  There is an entire galaxy to subjugate, Jedi to slay, things to destroy, people to conquer, you know what I mean.

So why did you create the Star Wars MOD?

Even the most powerful Lord of the Sith becomes bored every once in a while.  I intended for the Star Destroyer of the New Order to destroy the puny Rebellion forces in their pathetic little fighters.  I am not responsible for what others do with my creation. 

What do you think of the mission design syndrome known as the Battle of Endor Syndrome?

I can assure you that any attempts to recreate the Battle of Endor shall be punished severely to the full extent of my powers.  Should you care for a taste?

Ack, Gasp.  No, I believe you.  Please let me go.

Ah, much better.  Do you still doubt my identity and my powers now?

No.

Good.  It would be a shame to kill yet another who intended to interview me.  It spoils the effect.  Excuse me, I must leave for Corsucant and a meeting with Darth Sidious.  We must go to establish a New Order in the Galaxy.

You mean they didn't tell you?

Tell me about what?
