This
time around it will be slightly different: I will be
comparing FreeSpace 2 to a pile of dirty laundry.
To start
with, FS2 and laundry are like Good vs. Evil,
respectively. FS2 makes you happy, Laundry makes you mad.
You don't believe me? Try sitting down and playing some
FS... you become overjoyed with happiness (if you
don't... then you obviously have some deep-seeded
emotional problems). Now trying looking at a pile of
dirty laundry... suddenly you realize that its going to
require some work before the clothes are wearable
again... and then you start thinking about how you have
to set all those dials and crap... then suddenly you
become overly mad and storm out of the laundry room. See?
I told you...
Now... go
back and look at your pile of laundry again... I know
you're mad at it.. but go do it anyway. Now... just look
at it... I mean... it just sits there... doesn't do
anything interesting... just says... "HEY! Clean
me... dammit." No... no... don't leave yet.. I know
its making you mad, but keep looking. ........ um... ok,
I guess you can stop now.
Now go look
at some FS2 screenshots. Just look at 'em! See how cool
they are? It makes you all warm and fuzzy inside... then
you start thinking about... hey... yeah... I can go play
the demo again. Now... if you already have the demo, fire
it up. Look at it, its doing stuff! Hey, that's more than
you can say about laundry already! You play it... it
makes you happy, and you want to go back.
Aw man...
this is lame... screw it... I'll rant for a while now...
Why do all
fansites of games put little copyright info at the
bottom? ALL sites I visit frequently are cheaters of this
(including PFS). I mean, yeah, the copyright where it
says copyright of Volition and Interplay are cool...
those are understable, those copyrights were actually
paid for... but I mean... we didn't buy a copyright on
our intellectual property. I mean, sites like...
Gamestats (main site) prolly did buy a copyright for some
of their stuff... but sites like, PFS, and... other
sites... didn't... we're lame. Of course, I'm no
copyright law expert... so this could have been a total
waste of time... and that could be considered a viable
copyright in a court of law... so... yeah...
um... well,
i'll come back later...
OK... Demo
is out... and its massively great (as we all knew it
would be :) But the minor few issues that have arisen so
far are kind of getting out of hand. Especially no more
in-game joining. Look... I know in-game joining would be
nice. But the only way V will be able to get it in will
be to delay the game massively. Even then... if they
decide to go ahead and delay to make time to add this
feature, its still highly possible it will still make it
very unstable. Now, let me ask you a question... would
you prefer very stable multiplayer or would you prefer
having numerous multiplayer problems when someone joins
in-game? The only thing adding this would do is give
people much more to complain about... So look... if you
sign the petition, and in-game joining is added, you can
NEVER complain about ANY problems that occur after
someone joins in-game... if you do, its like you just
broke a contract. You wanted something you knew that
could be unstable, and you got it, yet you complain now
that its there... uncool and lame at the same time. Also,
if you sign the petition, and it gets added, you can
NEVER complain about a delay the game may recieve...
that's equally lame, you are the cause of the delay, so
how could you possibly complain about it? Three or four V
employees have made statements concerning this (hey, even
the lead art guy did!), so I doubt it will be added even
with the petition. Before you sign or send a petition...
weigh your descision: Stability or In-game joining.
That's basically what you're deciding, you can't have
both, one or the other. I know my choice...
