FreeSpace 1: Screenshots
The graphics, sound, and gameplay of Freespace are among the reasons the game is becoming so popular. Although the system requirements are extreme to get everything to run in Very High detail, it is well worth it. A fast processor, a Voodoo2 board, an Aureal 3D sound card, and a Force Feedback joystick add a new dimension to the game. Because not everyone has the game or can run it in Very High detail, below are software-rendered screenshots from the game.

Note: These are from the demo, so those of you who don't have the full game can see what you can get by downloading the demo in the download section. Click any image to enlarge it to 640x480.

The software-rendered screenshots are nice, but they won't awe anyone these days. However, with a 3dfx Voodoo or Voodoo2 board (or other Glide-based 3D accelerator), Freespace comes to life with wonderful lighting effects, high frame rates, and astounding detail. Below are 3dfx Glide-enhanced screenshots.

Note: These are from the full version. Click any image to enlarge it to 640x480.
