This is the first public screenshot of FreeSpace 2, obtained with permission from Volition, Inc. and Interplay.
That is more than merely fog, so imagine the effect of massive capital ships sliding through the nebula, which rolls and moves around it. Imagine your sight being obscured as you try to track hostile fighters manually, due to the electromagnetic effects hampering your sensors. Imagine all the pretty colors that aren't just eyecandy, but will actually change your strategies and dogfighting options. Imagine the possibilities... Also, check out the new ship of clearly Shivan design in the foreground. Then let your eyes shift a little further back into the obscured background...is that something massive? Is that something that will strike fear and terror into the enemy? You know the answer already. I'm a little unsure about if this is a Terran or a Shivan capital ship in the background.
